Wine from Limburg soil
In Sevenum, winegrowers Mariëlle and Hans Verdellen of Zaerums Genieten have been making wine from their own grapes since 2010. During their wine safari of one and a half to two hours they talk about winegrowing in the Netherlands and the changing climate, walk you through the vineyards and the winery, and you taste the wine straight from the barrel, outside in the vineyard whenever possible.
Wijngaard ’t Hanik near Lomm borders De Maasduinen National Park and has been there since 2012. It grows fungus-resistant varieties such as Johanniter, Solaris and Regent, so the vineyard can be worked as organically as possible; groups of 6 to 25 people can book a guided tour with tasting by appointment. Further afield, in Groesbeek, is Wijnhoeve De Colonjes, by its own account the largest organic vineyard in the Netherlands, with the Proef Groesbeek tour every weekend at 14:30.

Beer from close by
In Meterik, Erik and Jonna Brouwers of Hôrster Beer, master brewers since 2017, brew craft beer with their own Hôrster hops; a tasting with the story behind those hops can be arranged on request. Lindeboom in Neer is a family brewery that started five generations ago with Willem Geenen. The beer tour and the beer tasting take you past the brewhouse and the bottling line, each last about two and a half hours and go ahead from six people.
Just across the border in Germany is Privatbrauerei Bolten in Korschenbroich, by its own account the oldest altbier brewery in the world, with tours of about an hour. Closer to home, the Hertog Jan Brewery in Arcen and the distillery De IJsvogel have their own pages.
