Shopping around Lambertusplein
Horst town centre is compact: the shops are on Kerkstraat, Steenstraat, Veemarkt, Sint Lambertusplein and Wilhelminaplein. Alongside national chains you’ll find plenty of local businesses, from fashion and beauty to cheese, wine, flowers and bread. Boulangerie Gommans on Kerkstraat has been baking here since 1914.
On Sint Lambertusplein, by the large fountain, stands the Horster Hundje, a small bronze dog that is also a drinking-water tap. It refers to an old rhyme: Hedde dôrs? Godde naor Hôrs. (Thirsty? Then go to Horst.) On the same square, Bakkerij Gerards-Steeghs has a nostalgic museum shop. For coffee, lunch or a drink, head to Wilhelminaplein, where the cafés and restaurants have their terraces on the square.

St Lambertus Church and the weekly market
The 68-metre tower of St Lambertus Church rises above the town centre. The medieval church was blown up in November 1944. Architect Alphons Boosten designed the new church, which was consecrated in 1952 and is now a national monument. Inside you’ll see stained-glass windows from the 1950s, including work by Jos ten Horn, and furnishings from the old church.
The church treasures can also be seen in the church: statues, banners, vestments and liturgical vessels. On Tuesday mornings the weekly market is held in the town centre, with around seventy stalls selling cheese, bread, fruit and vegetables; until 13:00 in summer and until 12:00 in winter.

Peace and quiet at the Oud Kerkhof
On Kloosterstraat lies the Oud Kerkhof, the old churchyard and a municipal monument, with old grave crosses among hedges and large trees. It is open every day from sunrise to sunset and easily accessible by wheelchair; a guide can show you around.
On Gasthuisstraat you’ll find ’t Gasthoês, with a theatre, a library and a café. Museum de Kantfabriek on Americaanseweg, housed in a lace factory from 1928, tells the story of Horst’s textile past. And if you still have time, visit the ruin of Huys ter Horst Castle.

Come on a Tuesday morning, when the weekly market is held in the town centre, until 13:00 in summer. Come by bike: the town centre has its own bicycle parking. If you’d like to shop on a Sunday, first check the shopping Sundays on horst-centrum.nl: in 2026 they usually fall on the last Sunday of the month.
