What is Wellness?

Wellness is a wide-ranging term in The Netherlands. In English, wellness means health and healthiness. Originally, the word wellness came from the fitness world where it was all about wellbeing and fitness. Wellness is a real trend in The Netherlands. Everything to do with wellbeing and good health are found under this term. From Philips to Villeroy and Boch, we have equipment as well as toilets and whole bathrooms defined under the term wellness. We even have wellness jams and asparagus.

Wellness is a combination of actively and passively working on your health and wellbeing. So that you are physically and mentally well. This can be supported by relaxing at a sauna thermal complex, a beauty centre or a SPA Wellness centre in combination with active movement such as (Nordic) walking, or doing any other sport. It's also important to have a positive outlook on life as well as eating healthy. In fact, the key is a healthy lifestyle.
